My name is Jace Samaha. I am a passionate musician, driven student, and lifelong learner. Music has provided me with numerous learning opportunities that continue to suit me in my everyday life; from performing at venues, organizing my own album, and the hours upon hours of designated time I’ve devoted to improving my craft. Each connection, experience, success, or failure I have ever experienced through music has shaped me as a growing individual. The ultimate dedication required to pursue music has translated into my life outside of music, cultivating my work ethic as a student and young entrepreneur. My experiences are constantly pushing me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to strive for growth and excellence.
Music: Jazz and improvisation have been my primary focus, with the saxophone being my instrument for six years. During these six years, I have been fortunate to study with exceptional faculty of jazz both locally and through jazz camps. These teachers include Rachel Bade-McMurphy, Christopher Parkin, Jared Hall, and Dan Keberle. When attending various jazz camps and master classes, I was coached by Matt Wilson, David Sánchez, Carlos Henriquez, and Jeff Lederer. I am accustomed to multiple instruments due to varying musical settings—from clarinet in wind ensemble for three years, to oboe in concert band, to leading jazz ensembles on alto, and a variety of instrument experience with school musical pit orchestras. These music experiences have given me versatility, musical skills, and teachings that have allowed me to grow as a musician.
Entrepreneurship: Much of my time outside of school and music is spent toward my interest in business. I run a self-employed landscaping and hauling business, working for various friends and connections of mine. Years of business opportunities have given me real-world work experience with networking, organization, and entrepreneurship.
Goals: My ambition for the future is to continue my passion and interest in music and business through university, and ultimately as a future career. I want to share my music with the world around me and continue to use it as an outlet of joy in my life.
